We start our day around 9.00am and travel along the coast past Melbourne's beachside suburbs and then head inland to our first stop for the day, Moorooduc Estate at Moorooduc. A small family owned and operated winery where a warm welcome is always extended. First planted in 1983 the vineyard covers 12 acres, the principal varieties grown here are Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Shiraz. They are some of the oldest vines on the peninsula and as each year passes, they gain an intensity of flavour that younger vines cannot match. Biscuits and cheese complement the tastings.

A short drive away is the Yabby Lake Vineyard. Established in 1998 the vineyard produces consistently good wines from both estate and regional grown grapes. These include Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Shiraz. After the tasting, continue through to the quirky Quealy Vineyard at Balnarring. With a focus on Italian inspired wines, their approach is a little left of centre and will leave an impression.

Close by is the Merricks General Store where a relaxed a la carte lunch in rustic surroundings can be enjoyed.

After lunch, travel south to Mornington Peninsula Chocolates at Flinders before finishing the day at Red Hill Cheese at Main Ridge. Both properties complement the wineries beautifully and offer variety that's missing in other wine regions. On days when both these properties are closed, a visit would be made to Ten Minutes by Tractor at Main Ridge. It certainly is wine label with a very different name but don't let this put you off the wines. The 3 vineyards that supply fruit are all 10 minutes drive by tractor from each other.
